To encourage increased participation and awareness of Team Roping as a
sport within Australia and New Zealand.

To improve the image and popularity of Team Roping with the requirement
that all members shall exercise good sportsmanship and professionalism
at all times.

To provide different levels of competition, with consideration to the
varying abilities of individual Team Ropers and to encourage their
improvement.

To insure a Finals competition, where worthy awards and prize money will
be available, at a Regional level and, at a National level in which all
regions are encouraged to participate.

To seek funding and sponsorship, from both Government and Private
sectors, as an effort towards keeping individual membership fees to a
minimum and therefore affordable to the average family.

To encourage all members, irrespective of colour, creed or economic
background, to learn and develop sporting skills through the development
and establishment of learning pathways.

To promote opportunities for members to be involved in Regional,
Interstate and International competition, thereby increasing their
experience, skills and proficiency.

To identify and work towards the standardisation of coaching programs
keeping in mind that the instructors are volunteers. To monitor such
programs to ensure the enjoyment of the participants and to avoid unsafe
and dangerous practices.

To work closely with the United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC)
and other international bodies to ensure that the ATRA remains a leading
provider of opportunity within the sport of Team Roping for both
Australia and New Zealand.

To integrate all the above without the intent of profit to any
individual, organisation, or the association, as any and all proceeds in
excess of expenses shall be returned to the members in the form of
awards and prizes.
A system of
governance has been established that encourages all members to have a
voice and an active role in the association. Each state will have
regional representation to a 7 member state council.

The State
Council communicates to the board on behalf of each region and
state. The role of the board is to ensure a secure long term future
along with the general business of the association. Each board member
is required to undertake a designated role with responsibilities aimed
at growth and development for the sport of Team Roping, these roles are:

Elections
for State Council and Board positions will take place at the annual AGM.
The ATRA is built on an appreciation for fairness, consistency and
pride. The ATRA is open to ropers of all walks of life and is
particularly interested to motivate women and high school rodeo age
competitors into the sport of Team Roping.
Across Australia and New Zealand the ATRA strives to allow each roper,
regardless of age, gender or level of ability the opportunity to compete
in this unique and fun sport. The intensity of competition coupled with
the opportunity and fairness provided by the ATRA, allows ropers to
incorporate their talents with others, to challenge for an Australasian
Title.
