Q. How do I find out my spots a=
t the
Finals?
A.
You go online to www.teamroping.com.au/Calendar/National=
a>
Finals to view all National Shoot-Out positions awarded to you though o=
ut
the year.
Q. Last week I attended an ATRA=
event
and was told that I had won an ATRA Finals Shoot-Out position. What does th=
is
mean?
A.
Winning a Shoot-Out position means you have qualified to rope against a sel=
ect
number of other Shoot-Out winners at the ATRA Roping Finals. This is the mo=
st
lucrative roping in the country. The
ATRA office keeps track of all Shoot-Out winners. All shoot-out winners wil=
l be
posted on the ATRA website and an entry pack will be posted to you prior to=
the
Finals. It is, however, your responsibility to enter the roping with Head
Office on the due date and also the competitor’s responsibility to
contact head office if they have not received a competitor’s pack by =
the 6th
of August.
Q. I won a #9 Shoot-Out positio=
n and
then received a classification increase. My partner and I are now a #10 tea=
m.
Which Shoot-Out division do we enter?
A.
If the combination of both handicaps does not add up to the number of an
existing division, you and your partner must enter the next division up whi=
ch
in this case would be the #11 Shoot-Out.
Q. The partner I won my Shoot-O=
ut
position with is not going to the ATRA finals. What can I do?
A.
You may substitute a partner. The substitute partner must be a full member =
of
the ATRA and have participated in an ATRA event during the year. If you
haven’t found a substitute by the entry closing date (13th
August) you may pay the full entries for yourself and your partner and advi=
se
head office no later than Tuesday 7th September of the names. If=
the
spots have not been filled by then a refund will be given at the Finals.
Q. I have won three Shoot-Out s=
pots
with the same partner. Can I take these spots with this partner?=
A. You are only allowed to rope once with the same partner in each division=
.
Q. I haven’t won any spot=
s with
the partners I really want to rope with. I don’t think it’s wor=
th
travelling to without them.
A.
This year you have the opportunity to win more spots in the preliminary rop=
ing.
If you make it to the short-go in your event – you automatically win =
a spot
in the Finals! There is a maximum of 8 spots/event.
Q. So what do I do if I have won
three Shoot-Out spots with the same partner?
A.
Firstly, Congratulations! However you can only rope with the same partner o=
nce
in any one division. You are able to split your 2nd and third sp=
ot
and rope with anyone who is eligible to rope in that division provided that
they are a full member of the ATRA and that they have competed at an ATRA e=
vent
throughout the year.
Q. I have won five spots in the=
Open
Roping at the ATRA Finals. Can I go an unlimited number of times?
A.
You are able to take a maximum of five spots, but you can only rope with the
same partner once in each division.
Q. Is there awards for Year End
Champions?
A.
Yes, all year end champions will be awarded with trophies. The points for y=
ear
end will include the Preliminary Roping held prior to the ATRA Finals and a=
lso
the Finals competition.
Q. So is the ATRA Shoot-Out Fin=
als
conducted as a “Sudden Death” format ?
A.
Yes. For the Finals competition all ropers start on zero points, however po=
ints
won in these ropings will count towards “=
High
Point” year end awards.
Q. How will the champions in ea=
ch
division be decided and what will they receive?
A.
There is two trailers for the Open Roping, so each partner in the winning t=
eam
receives a trailer. This year our new event the #13’s will not be a
trailer roping but the winners will receive beautiful handcrafted buckles.
There will be a trailer awarded in both the #11’s and the #9’s =
Roping however there will only be one champion in these
events. The way that this wil=
l be
decided is with a count back method. The partner with the next highest plac=
ing
in that division on a count back as far as 10 places will be the winner.
Q. What if neither person has a=
nother
placing in that roping?
A.
Then there will be a five steer rope off. The winning team splits and choos=
es a
different partner who is eligible to rope in that division. (They must be a
full member of the ATRA and have competed at an ATRA event during the seaso=
n.)
Q. I have qualified for #7̵=
7;s
Shoot-Out spots at the ATRA finals. Is there going to be a roping for that
division?
A.
Yes. There will not be trophy trailers for that event but the champion #7 <=
span
class=3DGramE>Header and Heeler in that event will receive trophy bu=
ckles.
If you wish, you are eligible to also enter the #9 roping so you have a cha=
nce
at winning a trailer.
Q. I have only won one spot at =
the
ATRA Finals. I don’t think it is worth travelling to for one spot.
A.
There are Trailers to be won in three divisions of the Finals Roping. This =
can
be done on one spot. But also don’t forget there will be a Preliminary
Roping conducted on Friday the 10th September which is open to a=
ll
members of the ATRA. Five Shoot Out spots will be awarded in each division =
on
that day for the Finals the following day.
Q. I don’t want to rope i=
n the
(eg) 9’s but I do want to rope in the
11’s. What happens to my number 9 partner?
A.
You can surrender that spot to your partner to use as they wish. The partner
they pick must be a member and have competed at one ATRA event throughout t=
he
year (July 09 – June10)
